98 Years
November 2021Women are massively under-represented in the UK design workforce, ONS figures show that as of March 2018 only 22% of those working in occupations associated with design were women. This represents an increase of only 4% since 2004. At the current rate of growth it will take a further 98 years to reach gender equality in the workplace.
Taking the ridiculous fact of 98 years till gender equality, the publication visualises this amount of time in everyday objects and activities that everyone can relate to. As the reader delves further into the publication the statistics become increasingly larger and more absurd, with the images becoming increasingly smaller and equally more overwhelming.
The publication is sent to design studios across the UK as a wake up call. The aim is to spark conversations and initiate change in the hope we can speed up the time to reach gender equality in the workplace.
